australian east cost road trip

ok..... so we landed in melbourne end june 2009 and looked for a job.... found one :-) starting beginning august... so we decided to go on a roadtrip up the east coast to brisbane and come back 2 weeks before i start working to setup camp in melbourne for good.

this is how it went . . . . .

we flew with virgin blue from melbourne to sydney... a short pleasant flight.

landed in sydney at about 8pm and knocked on this backpacker's door for a place to stay.... it was lekker, it was noisy, it was a experience...... i will do this again :-)

walking through centre sydney on a saturday night is a eye opener... it is very busy very intimidating and summing you cannot capture on camera but here is a idea ..

we were very eager to start exploring sydney in daylight so we were up early sunday morning .... some awsome places and things to see!

drie jaar terug toe stap ek en jenilee duer die mall at reds, centurion, suid africa... to gaan sit ons in een van daai "photo booths"  en neem 'n foto van ons met die sydney opera house as die agtergrond... en maak 'n sleutel-houer van die foto... terwyl ons in die booth sit en wag dat die foto print to se ek vir jenilee.... "eendag dan neem ons ons eie foto met die regte opera house in die agtergrond". vandag het ek weer na die foto gekyk ...... en toe ons regte foto geneem by die opera house !

we then decided to meet some of the local wildlife here...... there have to be more to it than just sheep!..... and there is !

no visit to sydney is complete without seeing it's amazing beaches... so we stayed at another backpackers on bondi beach and visited some other cool sites with friends also from south africa.

to round off our last night in sydney we went to see bok van blerk live ! . . .  very very lekker evening and loads of south africans....

thanks to "no worries travel" we picked up our campervan the next morning and started the trip to brisbane... the plan is to do the trip over 5 days visiting some of the attractions en-route.....

so here we are in brisbane... we need to get back to melbourne to secure our rental and settle down before i start grafting again...we were early for for the flight so we stopped over at a huge carsales close to the airport and saw the car we liked.... great..... so we bought it... cancelled the flights and started driving back to melbourne.. taking the "inland" route through all the very cool small towns!

nice............. we are back in melbourne and are cery excited to see our new apartment... (we arranged everything while on holiday so have not seen it yet) well we wanted summing with a view...... here is the views from our bedroom and livingroom :-)
